06-2026

Dear MVV Ticket Applicants,

The City of Munich has recently informed us of an important change regarding the 365-Euro MVV Ticket for the 2026/2027 school year. Starting with the 2026/2027 school year, the current paper-based 365-Euro MVV Ticket will be replaced by an electronic chip card. Eligible students will no longer receive a paper ticket, but instead a reusable electronic card.

All students who require an MVV ticket for the 2026/2027 school year must now submit their application directly through MVG. Please follow the steps outlined in this email. From now on, the entire application process will be handled exclusively by MVG and no longer by the Parents’ Association. Any applications already submitted through the Parents’ Association system will be cancelled free of charge.

IMPORTANT: If you do not follow the new procedure, you will not receive an MVV ticket!

Please first determine which category applies to you:

  1. A) You live within the City of Munich (postal codes 80000–81999)
  1. B) You live outside the City of Munich or qualify under the S6/S7 regulation

  1. A) Families residing within the City of Munich:

Step 1: Apply for free school transportation

Please submit an online application for each child via the City of Munich website: https://service.muenchen.de/intelliform/forms/01/05/05/kostenfreiheit/index

When prompted, select ESM (European School Munich) and follow the application process.

Step 2: Register in the MVG Portalhttps://www.mvg.de/abos-tickets/abos/365-euro-ticket-mvv.html

If you do not yet have an account, please register and add your child(ren) to your account.

Step 3: Apply for the 365-Euro MVV Ticket

Once your application for free transportation (Step 1) has been approved by the City of Munich, you will receive a separate email from the City of Munich during the first week of July containing one QR code per child. Use this QR code to apply for the 365-Euro MVV Ticket through the new MVG portal. Instructions are attached and also available online: http://ev-esm.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/EN_Bestellung-365-Euro-Ticket.pdf

Please place your order exclusively through the new MVG Portal using the QR code. Your MVV chip card will then be sent automatically to your registered home address.

Important: The current approval letter from the City of Munich may still contain references to the old application process. Please ignore these. After ordering, your chip card (365-Euro Ticket) will be sent directly to your home address.

  1. B) Families living outside the City of Munich & S6/S7 Regulation:

Step 1: Register in the MVG Portal https://www.mvg.de/abos-tickets/abos/365-euro-ticket-mvv.html

If you do not yet have an account, please register and add your child(ren).

Step 2: Purchase the 365-Euro MVV Ticket

Purchase the ticket yourself via: https://www.mvg.de/abos-tickets/abos/365-euro-ticket-mvv.html (Select the appropriate child and then choose the 365-Euro Ticket.)

Step 3: Apply for free transportation

If you have not already done so for the 2026/2027 school year, submit an online application for each child via: https://service.muenchen.de/intelliform/forms/01/05/05/kostenfreiheit/index Select ESM (European School Munich) and complete the application (It is also possible to apply without an id.Bund, BundID, or BayernID login).

Step 4: Apply for reimbursement

Since you must initially pay for the ticket yourself, you must subsequently apply for reimbursement through the Department of Education and Sports (RBS) only, using the same online portal: https://service.muenchen.de/intelliform/forms/01/05/05/kostenfreiheit/index

RBS Notice:

  • Reimbursement applications can only be submitted from 15 July of each school year onwards, as transportation costs covering at least 10 months must be documented.
  • The reimbursement application must be submitted no later than 31 October following the relevant school year.

School Confirmation for S6/S7 MVV Students (If not already completed for the 2026/2027 school year) Families qualifying under the S6/S7 regulation must complete the standard school confirmation form: www.mvg.de/dam/jcr:196684fc-c319-4191-876c-f7f153e33899/Schulbestaetigung.pdf Please have the form stamped by the school office (secretariat).

Important: The current approval letter from the City of Munich may still refer to the previous application procedure. Please ignore these instructions. After ordering, the chip card (365-Euro Ticket) will be sent directly to your home address. For S6/S7 applicants, the ticket is also available as a mobile ticket.
